Appeal from “Ireland in Arabic” to the Irish Government for the Swift Relocation of Syrian Refugees from Lebanon

To the Irish Government:
We urgently appeal to you to fulfill your promises of relocating Syrian refugees from Lebanon to Ireland, as nearly 400 refugees are living under dire humanitarian conditions.

These refugees, promised resettlement two years ago, now face serious risks to their lives, especially with the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in the region.

The delay in fulfilling these commitments has left many families without shelter or medical care, exposing them to severe danger, particularly with the possibility of Beirut’s airport being closed due to bombings.

We call on you to expedite the transfer of these refugees and provide them with the necessary protection. They are only asking for a safe life away from fear and war.

We remind you that Ireland committed to resettling approximately 2,900 refugees by 2023, yet the implementation remains limited, and many pledges remain unfulfilled.

In the face of global crises and rising refugee numbers, we urge you to open legal pathways and facilitate the swift relocation of these individuals to Ireland. We also encourage the Irish community to actively participate through the Community Sponsorship Programme to support refugee families.

Together, we can offer these individuals hope for a new life, safe from danger and suffering.
